Director Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (DNFIU) pays courtesy visit to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)

The Director, Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (DNFIU) Mr. Francis Usani paid a courtesy visit to the Director General, National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) on Tuesday 26th April 2016. The aim of the visit was to promote inter agency co-operation and to further enhance an already established relationship between the two agencies.

 The DNFIU broadly spoke on the capabilities of the NFIU particularly it’s analytical and intelligence gathering abilities, and how the mandates of the two agencies remain vital in the fight against financial crimes, terrorism and terrorists financing etc.

In response, the Director General National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Aliyu A. Aziz thanked the DNFIU for his timely visit, and further pledged the full co-operation of his agency. The DG NIMC pledged to look at the possibilities of granting the NFIU access to its National Identity Database.

The Director, Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (D-NFIU) and his delegation were given a tour of the NIMC card production facilities to get an insight into the operations of NIMC. The Courtesy visit ended with the resolve of both agencies to strengthen their collaboration.
